Now it’s finally time to whip out the tailor measuring tape. Don’t have one? No worries. You can also use that paper measuring tape you got from IKEA on your last visit or a piece of ribbon that you can mark and measure with a ruler.
When measuring, stand naturally straight, relax your stomach and try to keep your arms by your side. Keep the measuring tape flat against your skin (but don’t stretch it!) and try sitting down, bending over, and standing back up to check that the tape doesn’t restrict your movement.
Prefer your clothing on the looser side? Add a finger width (or two) between your body and the measuring tape to ensure a loosey-goosey fit.
