Bamboo is a standout: fast-growing, low-maintenance, and not remotely interested in pesticides. It’s breathable, soft, and biodegradable — meaning it won’t spend the next 400 years haunting a landfill. ?. 

Traditional polyester, on the other hand, is the fossil-fuel cousin no one really wants at the reunion. High emissions, high water use, and a bad habit of never leaving ?.

Instead, we go for recycled polyester (rPET) and REPREVE® — materials that give plastic waste a new lease on life as high-performance fabric. Compared to virgin polyester, rPET slashes energy use by up to 59% ?, reduces water consumption, and spares the landfill some extra drama.

Yes, microplastics are still an issue. No, it’s not perfect. But it’s a big step in the right direction — especially at scale.

The End of the Line That Isn’t

When DTY uniforms clock out for good, we don’t just wave goodbye — we give them a second act.

Thanks to our recycling program in partnership with Textile Recyclers Australia, we transform retired uniforms into new, useful products. Think: eco-friendly tote bags, home insulation, and other surprising second lives. 

In 2023 alone, we recycled 282kg of uniforms and prevented 833kg of CO₂ emissions. Roughly the carbon footprint of a modestly rebellious weekend road trip.

It’s not just a feel-good footnote. It’s a full-circle moment that actually closes the loop.
